Rattlesnakes are another group of snakes that you don’t want to meet in the desert. With their distinctive tail that rattles like a castanet, these snakes are incredibly common around the world. In fact, there are around 36 species across the globe. Although they only bite when provoked, rattlesnakes are the biggest contributors to human snake bite injuries in North America. Their venom can destroy human tissue and disturb the process of blood clotting, but can be treated if the bite is caught in time.
