Being back in the bachelor’s game enlightened Costner that ending his relationship with Christine had been wrong. He said that his fear was what stopped him from marrying Christine, as he was afraid that he would be an ineffective father and she was extremely keen to have kids.
Yet, breaking up caused him to wake up, and he realized that here was a beautiful woman who was willing to be in a relationship with him, and he questioned why he would end this because she wanted to have kids.
