Quentin Tarantino (the legend) wanted to help John Travolta out when the chips were down. He offered him a role in his horror flick, From Dusk Till Dawn, but Travolta wasn’t keen. Instead, he insisted that he wanted to play a character in Pulp Fiction, but Tarantino wasn’t impressed.
The director said he was disappointed with his choice, but eventually relented and let Travolta be in Pulp Fiction. Luckily for them both, the film was a success and Travolta played his part perfectly.
