John Travolta didn’t get his first big break until 1975, when he appeared in the show Welcome Back, Kotter. Playing Vinnie Barbarino, a bit of a bad boy character, would catapult Travolta into semi-stardom – and onto the walls of practically every teenage girls’ bedrooms across America.
While he may have thought himself and Vinnie were slightly similar, he did admit that he could never have pulled off being cool and preferred trying to make people laugh instead. His role in Welcome Back, Kotter would continue until 1979.
