Just a year after winning Miss Junior America in 1987, Thiessen went on to feature on the cover of Teen magazine. The magazine was searching for their next “Great Model,” and in Thiessen, they believed they had found their girl. Needless to say, they were not wrong and they definitely picked the right girl. Thiessen was only 14 at this time and it was just the beginning of her rise to fame. Just a year after featuring on the cover of Teen magazine, Thiessen was named Cover Girl magazine’s model of the year.
After this, there was no turning back for the rising young model; she was here to stay and Hollywood was ready to make a spot for her amongst its other stars. 1989 was the year that this model turned into an actress. All of this exposure would lead to one big breakthrough that would change Thiessen’s life forever.
