Thiessen’s time on Saved by the Bell really opened a lot of door for her as an up and coming young actress. While she spent her early days playing the good girl, she moved on quickly when she was cast in Beverly Hills, 90210, and her entire persona was all about to change. Shannen Doherty had just left the cast of 90210, and the producers wanted another actress to come in and play villain, Valerie Malone.
In a surprising turn of events, Thiessen was cast into the role and welcomed it with open arms. Showing off her ability to flip the image people had of her, she portrayed Valerie Malone from 1994 to 1998. Thiessen convinced viewers she was no longer the girl next door, but one you wouldn’t want to mess with. While it was completely different than her previous role, she pulled it off splendidly and people loved it.
