Despite trying to make an appearance in Hollywood through several small, independent films, Bo Derek’s real breakthrough came from the romantic comedy film, 10. 10 was a huge success both financially and by the reviews of critics.
Thanks to this, Derek was cast in more productions, including A Change of Seasons in 1980, although neither the film nor her performance, were reviewed very positively. She ended up in the spotlight more when she appeared in Playboy magazine on numerous occasions, over the course of more than a decade.

During the 90s, Derek was nominated for, and won, multiple awards. However, come the 2000s, Derek seemed to drift away from the limelight, whether by choice or not, we aren’t sure.
She has still made appearances and played roles in Malibu’s Most Wanted and Fashion House, along with the horror-comedy, ‘Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!,’ but nothing of substantial success. She has since become more of a spokesperson, speaking out about politics, animal welfare, and veteran rehabilitation.
