In 1953, Dickinson was the runner-up at a beauty pageant, which got her noticed by a television producer. He asked her to consider acting, and after several years, she was approached by NBC, where she started starring as a guest on a number of shows.
She met Frank Sinatra along the way, and they became close friends. She was later cast as Sinatra’s wife in Ocean’s 11 in 1960. By the 70s, Dickinson had been in a considerable amount of movies and programs, and was quite the star.

After many decades of fame and popularity, Dickinson’s career eventually had to come to an end. She made a brief cameo in the 2001 remake of Ocean’s 11, given her original character in the 1960’s version.
She also starred in a Hallmark Channel original film, named Mending Fences, in 2009. However, her daughter was born with several difficulties, and took her own life in 2007. Dickinson had turned down roles prior to this to care for and support her, and then turned them down in later years to grieve.
