Some decade after her original debut, the 70s saw Cher become an international singing superstar. After being taken on by Snuff Garrett following a recommendation from her record label, Kapp Records, Cher earned more fame and popularity than ever.
The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour was incredibly popular and became a full-time show just four months after its premiere. In 1971, Cher released her very first U.S. number one single, Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves, and she’s been growing more popular every year since.

Cher took multiple breaks from her career over the years but never stayed away for long. In 2002, Cher launched her “Farewell Tour” as the last tour she would ever embark on. However, she promised her fans that she would continue producing films and records.
Cher earned a Primetime Emmy Award for the work which followed her tour, but despite her goodbyes, she later reemerged in films, studio albums, and even more tours. Cher has since revealed that she has more lined up for us and won’t be slowing down yet.
