Anderson made her debut in 1966 but was very rarely heard of until the mid-70s where she appeared in S.W.A.T. and Phyllis. Her true popularity came about during the 80s, however, when she became famous as an icon for women, and somewhat of a pin-up model.
In fact, Hugh Wilson admitted that he cast her for a role in his production, WKRP in Cincinnati, because of her looks and personality. He also said she had a resemblance to Marilyn Monroe, which eventually earned her even more fame.

Loni Anderson’s career has since significantly slowed down. From 2003 until 2004, Anderson played Mandi Mullet-Heidecker in 11 episodes of The Mullets. She also played Kiki Spelling in eight episodes of So NoTORIous in 2006.
She then disappeared for a while, before returning to play Nana Lyle in one episode of Baby Daddy in 2016 and Jean in the first episode of the Amazon Pilot season of Love You More in 2017. Her career has definitely slowed down considerably, but she hasn’t yet lost all of her previously earned popularity.
