Cybill Shepherd first appeared in The Last Picture Show in 1971. The movie was a huge box office hit, which got Shepherd’s name straight out into the industry. For this role, she was nominated for a Golden Globe – pretty impressive for her first ever film!
She then played Kelly in The Heartbreak Kid in 1972, which was another critical and box office success. Within a few short years, Shepherd was a household name and Hollywood star, who was cast in a whole plethora of productions.

After taking a break from the big productions, and going back to her hometown to work in regional theater, Shepherd returned to New York in 1982, where she has worked in films and television for many years.
In 2000, Shepherd launched her autobiography entitled ‘Cybill Disobedience: How I Survived Beauty Pageants, Elvis, Sex, Bruce Willis, Lies, Marriage, Motherhood, Hollywood, and the Irrepressible Urge to Say What I Think’ – what a mouthful! She has remained active in the industry since then, with no further breaks.
