A small prodding from Dr. Phil revealed that the Verkerks’ troubles started long before any money came into the picture. A second marriage for Jodie, she has two children from her previous relationship who reside with the couple. The Verkerks also have a daughter of their own. When asked if Edwin preferred or treated any of the children better than others, he said no. Jodie disagreed with him, saying he had always shown preferential treatment to his biological daughter.
