Mary Margaret Spaulding – or Curly as she was more often known – appeared in many episodes of the show across its four seasons. Played by Kathryn Layng, the character was known for some of her romantic endeavors with the men of Eastman Medical, including with head physician Dr. Canfield and young Doogie. While her relationship with the titular character took some time to form as she – like her colleagues – was hesitant about his age and capabilities, the two grew to have a good friendship.
