The Ten Commandments is known for its long run time, but many are unclear on how long it actually is. Usually with commercials it ends up being close to four and a half hours, but it’s actual run time is approximately three hours and forty minutes.
When it first premiered in theaters it was so long that it was arranged for there to be a brief intermission to give audiences a break. Executives worried that the length would deter viewers from wanting to see it, but it didn’t seem to stop them at all.
