The pair were left without a band until they saw an ad answering their prayers; Peter Criss was looking for musicians. Gene and Paul snatched up the opportunity and quickly sent out an ad of their own. Ace Frehley saw his chance so quickly applied to become the fourth member of their band. By 1974 their first album, Kiss, was released. Life could only go up from here. Gene quickly took the role as head of merchandise for the band, a way he knew they could make money.
