For the first two seasons, Mitchell Anderson portrayed Dr. Jack McGuire in the show, one of Doogie’s colleagues at Eastman Medical. He and Doogie had a rivalry in the hospital, but it was friendly for the most part as the teenage doctor gained the acceptance of those around him. During his time on the show, Jack enjoyed a brief fling with Nurse Spaulding, but he ultimately decided to leave Eastman Medical after taking a trip to Mexico. The time he’d spent helping patients there had convinced him to become a flying physician.
