Chaz had said his mother had certain expectations, and when they didn’t happen, she was struggling to accept it. “She would have liked a little girl who would have liked to play dress-up in her closet. I was not one of them,” Bono said.
Cher had later said that since it was a difficult time to come out, she was worried about her daughter, thinking “she’s gonna get hell because her parents are Sonny and Cher.” But a year later, she was ready to “come out” herself in a magazine as a proud parent.
