Compared to some of his marriages, Gregg’s relationship with Cher was actually one of the strongest. Their union lasted for four years, which is double the length of his first two marriages combined. Of course, their relationship was hardly perfect.
It very nearly stalled after just a few days when Cher filed papers to get the marriage annulled. It seems she regretted tying the knot with Allman so quickly after her divorce, especially given all of Gregg’s struggles. Luckily, he cleaned himself up enough to convince Cher to stick around.
