Of course, it wasn’t just the loss of his father that sent Chaz into a downward spiral. His ongoing struggle with gender identity also contributed to his substance abuse because it put him in such a negative space of mind.
He was a man, but his body didn’t show that, and that nearly destroyed Chaz. Thankfully, he’s now been sober for over a decade, and we expect he’ll stay that way for many years to come. After all, life is really starting to work out in his favor now.
