Although Chaz is glad to be rid of his substance abuse issues, there was an upside to it. It seems his troubled past actually helped him bond more with his new girlfriend. Back in the day, she too had problems with certain substances, to the point that she actually got separated from her son.
The woman’s family became responsible for her child while she cleaned up her act, with Shara forced to spend two years away from her boy. That wasn’t an easy thing for the mother to do.
