Another huge parallel that Chrissy has with Kate, the character she plays on This Is Us, is the turbulent relationship she has with her mother. Like Kate, Chrissy has always had a certain level of turmoil regarding the relationship with her mother. On the show, Kate feels like her mother is beautiful beyond belief, and it gives her a standard that she finds hard to live up to. Chrissy was able to understand that, because her own mother couldn’t understand why she joined Weight Watchers at age 11.
