The seven-year role on Gilmore Girls was just the big break that Melissa needed to jumpstart her career. Following the series, she landed a recurring role as Sam’s socially awkward childhood best friend Dena in Samantha Who?. In 2010, she finally got a chance to stray away from the “crazy best friend” roles, and play a lead role, starring in her own series as Molly Flynn in the CBS sitcom Mike & Molly.
