Spencer is probably the most sophisticated of the Liars, as she was part of a family of lawyers (and eventually pursued the same career path herself). She is a relentless overachiever, who would do anything for her friends and family, as she proves repeatedly on the series. Alex Drake, as we find out later in the show, is Spencer’s less fortunate identical twin sister, who was raised in an orphanage. Alex tries to take over her sister’s life, but ends up stuck in Mona’s dollhouse.
