In fact, Joey and Carmen were having to control Laura’s life. Due to her excessive weight, she would spend most of her days in bed, with no energy or strength to do everyday tasks. Her husband and mother had to wash her because she could not get in the shower, and Joey would do everything around the house. He would cook, he would clean, and he would make sure their life was perfect. As Laura became bed-bound, she knew that she had to change – but just couldn’t do it.
