Cohen’s 15 year old granddaughter gave her the push to The Hunger Games films: after reading the last book of the series, the girl told her grandmother she should be Mags. She even verified that no-one had been cast for the role yet, so Cohen called her agent, and the rest is history.
She is famous for another role of a beloved motherly figure, but in a much different context: she’s Magda, Miranda’s housekeeper/nanny in SATC. The actress also appeared in Law & Order, and in the movies Vanya on 42nd Street, Munich, and Synecdoche, New York.
