Stef got her first taste of performing through vaulting, an activity described as ‘gymnastics on horseback’. She even won a national competition at age 13, but her knee injuries forced her to take a break from it – and that’s when acting became her passion.
She has said in an interview that she loved the Hunger Games books for its message about ‘humanity and love and our ability to survive despite the odds’, and that she immediately saw herself in the role of Annie, the character she ended up playing.
