If any character on Gossip Girl tries to hang on to their strong moral compass, it’s definitely Vanessa. Being born in Vermont and homeschooled, Vanessa never belonged on the Upper East Side and in fact despises it.
Unlike Dan, who’s always wanted to belong, Vanessa never tries to be part of high society – and though she’s been known to get dragged into an occasional scheme, she’s always expressed remorse if someone got hurt. In a way, this makes her one of the most unique on the show.

Jessica Szohr is one Gossip Girl alum who has kept incredibly busy since the show ended. She participated in features like Ted 2 and the Google-centered comedy The Internship, and appeared on shows such as fighting drama Kingdom and cult hit Twin Peaks’ continuation.
She also starred in the heartbreaking drama Complications, which aired in 2015 and was canceled the same year. More recently, Jessica has been cast for a recurring role in season 8 of the Showtime drama Shameless, as Nessa, the Gallaghers’ feisty new tenant.
