As the years went on, it turns out that Walmart International may have been bribing officials on at least four different continents. There have been allegations of Walmart giving bribes to officials in countries such as India, China, and Brazil.
While there are those who claim that bribery is necessary in order to get anything done in these countries, as a United States based corporation, Walmart is beholden to US laws and regulations, and bribery is against US law.
