In an attempt to avoid a long and complicated legal process as well as having the Walmart name besmirched, Walmart was negotiating with the United States Government to discuss how much money Walmart should pay in fines.
At first the government wanted $600 million dollars, but the government is reportedly willing to settle for $300 million from the multinational giant along with a guilty plea. Walmart also reported that it would work with the US government set up a task force for dealing with countries where corruption is the norm.
