In an attempt to avoid anything like this happening again, Walmart issued a statement that they would be making sure everyone at the store had undergone full training of how to enter the barcodes correctly, how to deal with a situation like this should it ever happen again, and what to look for on receipts to spot the issue quicker in the future.
The company also assured the public that all stores would undergo similar training to avoid any mixups.
