Pamela was born in Ladysmith, British Columbia, the daughter of a repairman and a waitress. Pamela had a traumatic childhood, and was the victim of assault on several occasions. She attended Highland Secondary School in Comox, British Columbia, where she was a volleyball player. A few years after she graduated in 1985, she moved to Vancouver in order to work as a fitness coach. She was discovered as a model shortly after, and she moved to L.A.
