Ted grew up in Newport Beach, California. Throughout his childhood and teens, he spent a lot of time on the beach and was a surfer. While he was in high school, he worked as a lifeguard. He attended the University of Southern California where he became the captain and two-time Most Valuable Player of the school’s water polo team. He also started a modeling career while he was in college, which eventually led him into the world of acting – by landing his first role in the series Happy Days.
