Jennifer was born in Pasadena, California to an entire family of performers. He father was a Flamenco guitarist, and her grandparents were a vaudeville team. Growing up, she was inspired by her movie star uncle, James Best, who was known for his role in The Dukes of Hazzard. She learned ballet as a young child, and continued to study and perform throughout high school and college. While she was in college, she started focusing more on musical theater, and decided to pursue a career in acting.
