The Hawaiin beauty was born and raised in Honolulu. She studied at an all-girls Catholic school called Sacred Hearts Academy. As a kid, she had dreams of becoming a performer and competed in Star Search in 1985 when she was 17 years old. Despite being eliminated early on in the competition, she ended up getting the attention of a movie producer while she was out grocery shopping one day. He cast her in her first movie, Aloha Summer, which launched a career in modeling and acting for the future star.
