Katey was born and raised in LA to a director father and a singer/screenwriter/producer mother, and is one of five children. Katey and her family grew up in Brentwood, Los Angeles, on the same block as famed singer/actress Judy Garland. As a kid, she became close to Judy and her family, especially her younger daughter, Lorna Luft. After she graduated from high school, she pursued acting and attended the California Institute of the Arts, where she studied singing and acting.
