As Pattinson got older, he started to form a passion for acting. He looked up to movie stars such as Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jack Nicholson as influences. However, despite his love for theatre, he still was hesitant to get into the art, especially after one of his high school teachers told him that he shouldn’t join the drama club since he was so shy.

Giving theatre a try

Luckily, his father ended up giving him just the nudge he needed and persuaded him to overcome his insecurities and audition for the local amateur drama company, Barnes Theatre. There, he performed in shows such as Guys and Dolls, Macbeth, Anything Goes, and starred as the lead in Our Town – where a talent agent just happened to be in attendance of the audience.
