Despite starring in numerous films, Pattinson had yet to land a role that could compare to his part in Harry Potter. In 2008, after bombing yet another audition in Los Angeles, a frustrated Pattinson decided he had nothing left to lose but to take a try for the leading brooding vampire in the upcoming fantasy rom-dram based on the Stephanie Meyer novel, Twilight.
Although he initially was not crazy about playing Edward Cullen – a 108-year-old vampire who falls in love with a human teen named Bella Swan – and feared that he would not be able to live up to the “perfection” expected of the character, he nailed the audition and accepted the role anyways.
