A huge contributing factor to Melissa’s overwhelming success, is getting the support of her parents – especially her mother – as she made the decision to drop out of her college and move to New York to pursue her dream of being a comedian, with only as much as $45 in savings. Melissa says without her mother’s support, she probably would have quit. “A normal parent might have said, ‘You’re insane.’ Instead, this maniac kept saying, ‘OK, good luck. Let me know what play you’re doing.’ I was like, ‘My mother’s crazy!'”
