Pam Fields is Emily’s immensely loving and supportive mother. She is conservative and old fashioned, but tries to be close with her only daughter and spend as much time with her as she can, while still keeping her in the dark about her own personal struggles, and the difficulties in being married to a military man. At first, Pam disapproves of Emily’s relationship with Maya, but eventually she comes to terms with it, and decides to support her daughter.
