Those who are struggling with obesity can also suffer from mental health disorders as well. When people are consistently told they are not good enough, pretty enough, thin enough, etc., they begin to feel down about themselves and are more susceptible to mental illness. This can lead to low-self esteem and a negative body image, which can eventually evolve into depression. Because they feel down, many people turn to food to make them feel better and this ends up fueling obesity.
