One of the biggest, most enduring, and most popular forms of media in Japan is anime. It’s watched all over the world, by all kinds of people. The first anime to really shape the genre was Astro Boy, with a style inspired by the large-eyed cartoons of Disney.
However, one of the most widely consumed forms of anime is a genre called magical girl anime. This genre, which houses some well-known titles like Sailor Moon, started with the show Sally the Witch. Sally the Witch was directly inspired by, you guessed it, Bewitched.
