Endora was Samantha’s mother. As a character, she was sassy, quick-witted, and had bright red hair that often clashed with her garish clothing choices.
Endora was played by the actress Agnes Moorehead, who developed a close friendship with Darrin’s original actor, Dick York. When York left the show, Moorehead decided that it was time for her to leave as well. While he may have resigned for his own health, Moorehead still felt she owed him the loyalty of leaving, too.
