Have you ever wondered what The Avengers movies would’ve been like without the women? How about Thor? How about Guardians of the Galaxy? No matter which movie you choose, they all have something in common – a handful of empowering ladies to keep the men in their place, and if not that, at the very least hypnotized by the girls’ startling presence. For instance, whenever Iron Man finishes doing his super hero thing, he gets back to Stark Headquarters, only to find Pepper Potts waiting for him. Played by a ginger Gwyneth Paltrow, she keeps him grounded, but also isn’t afraid to call him out when he needs it.
Whenever a lovely lady appears on screen, it adds a certain level of warmth to the film – most of the time. There are some female characters, such as Hela from Thor: Ragnarok, who exudes the furthest thing from warmth. But regardless of whether the lady we see on screen is good or bad, one thing is usually pretty consistent. The actress playing her is one seriously talented, and usually pretty stunning individual – and this is what we’d like to demonstrate for you today. The younger sister of well known child-star twins Mary Kate and Ashley, Elizabeth Olsen may have recently overtaken them in Hollywood popularity due to her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff in the last few Avengers films. Her character’s nickname is the Scarlet Witch, due to her incredible telekinetic abilities, as well as the power to alter visions within other people’s minds. We first see her in Avengers: Age of Ultron with her brother Quiksilver, and although it takes some time, they eventually join the likes of Iron Man and Captain America as fully fledged members of the Avengers. Olsen plays the role exceptionally well, especially when you consider that she’s an American pulling off a thick Russian accent.
