The introduction of Valkyrie came in the movie Thor: Ragnarok, while Thor was stranded on a planet called Sakaar. He comes into contact with Valkyrie, who at first he sees as a foe. However, he would later come to not only befriend her, but understand that she actually hails from his hometown of Asgard. Playing the role of a former member of the Valkyries, an Asgardian all-woman warrior tribe, Tessa Thompson does a great job adding a mixture of grit and tenderness to her character.
