It seems that the writers had a thing for naming the characters after the cast members who played them. Geri Tyler was played by Geri Jewell who suffers from cerebral palsy. She was the first actor with the condition to be featured on TV and the show had many storylines around her. Gerri was Blair’s cousin and she often poke fun at herself. She appeared on seasons 2 to 5 and made television history in the process.
