When Charlotte Rae decided to leave the show after a number of years, she recommended her dear friend, Cloris Leachman, as a replacement. Rae’s contract with the show had expired and she did not want to renew it. She was written out of the show and it was said that her character have moved to Africa and joined the Peace Corps. Leachman played Beverly Ann Stickle who replaced Mrs. Garrett in taking care of the girls and moved into her house. She also owned a local Boutique and she even adopted one of the girls’ friends, Andy Moffet.
