After leaving One Direction in 2015, sources close to the singer claimed that Malik left because he had “realized that he didn’t actually want to be famous” and that he had strongly disliked living life in the public eye.
And although today as a solo artist it seems like Malik is over his fear of fame, a string of cancelled appearances leading up to his Pillowtalk single debut could have indicated that he was still struggling with the public responsibilities at the time.
