A fixture for almost ten years, iconic New York City toy store FAO Schwarz had an area where children of all ages were welcome to design their own muppet. People had a wealth of different eyes, noses, ears, costumes (including Yankees jerseys or The Statue of Liberty), and hairstyles to choose from, with Kermit on hand to explain every step of the way. For those who couldn’t make it to the store, FAO Schwarz enabled people to design a muppet online. The cost of a muppet: $100.
