Everyone usually thinks of Kermit when they hear the word “Muppet,” but the little green frog actually stole the show from Rowlf the Dog. Making his first appearance in a 1962 Canadian Purina Dog Chow commercial, the muppet then went on to become famous for periodically co-hosting the nationally syndicated Jimmy Dean Show. Rowlf himself used to get over 2,000 fan letters a week! But Rowlf, known for his chill demeanor, probably didn’t mind too much once Kermit took the spotlight.
