While the Swedish Chef was one of the casts’ and viewers’ favorite characters, not everyone loved the wily Scandinavian. Actually, many Swedes didn’t like him, saying that the fake language that Jim Henson created for the muppet is annoying and culturally insensitive, leading people to wonder if Henson could have succeeded with the character today. Interestingly though, Swedes listening to the Swedish Chef’s gibberish say he sounds like a Norwegian!
